Tswalu Kalahari
The uniqueness of the safari experience at Tswalu is in the beauty of the 110 000 hectare southern Kalahari wilderness, restored to its original state as a result of an ongoing conservation programme. Located in South Africa’s malaria-free southern Kalahari, an area which receives more rain than the central Kalahari, it is frequently referred to as the “Green Kalahari” and embraces a variety of habitats.
This unexplored wilderness area is defined by the splendour and serenity of the wide open spaces, the rolling savannah landscapes and the majestic Korranaberg mountains. Within the 110,000 hectares of the reserve, guests have the opportunity to track game in privacy and explore the Kalahari grasslands at their own pace, on foot, on horseback or in a private 4×4 game viewing vehicle.
Expect sightings of some of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife including Kalahari black-maned lions, desert black rhino, buffalo, giraffe, cheetah and leopard and many varieties of antelope, as well as some of the rarest wildlife in Africa, such as pangolin, aardvark, aardwolf and Africa wild dogs. Besides the 80 species of mammals there are some 230 species of birds.
You will be allocated your own private game drive vehicle, guide and tracker so that you can enjoy a completely flexible itinerary. Spend time with an habituated meerkat colony, sleep out under the stars at the Malori sleep-out deck, or simply watch the sun sink below the panoramic horizon to a chorus of crickets.Between game drives, indulge in boma feasts and bush dinners, sundowners, wine tastings, champagne breakfasts and dune picnics. In the heat of the day, retreat to the luxury of your air-conditioned suite at The Motse or Tarkuni, relax at the pool or book a treatment in the unique Tswalu Spa with its outdoortreatment area and indigenous spa garden. Africa will wait for you.
